ABOUT - RYAN MCPHAIL
My background is baseball. From the time I was able to hold a bat and ball, baseball has been a passion. Besides learning from every coach I’ve ever had, I have had the opportunity to learn from my father, a 10 year veteran of Minor League baseball who also coached professionally for 3 years and is currently in his 21st year of scouting for the NY Mets. I graduated from Dutch Fork High School in 2011 where I was a varsity player all 4 years. I was the starting catcher for 3 years while also seeing time as a pitcher. I was a 41st round selection by the Detroit Tigers in the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft, but decided to attend to college. I attended Spartanburg Methodist College my freshmen year where I helped them earn a spot in the Junior College World Series. My playing career was cut short when my arm required Tommy John (UCL) surgery. The passion for baseball remains and I have stayed around baseball as much as I can. However, now it revolves around glove reconditioning/relacing and giving lessons.
